My precious Francesca :)

Here is my precious... I named her Francesca because that is the Martha Stewart color I picked to paint her.... Francesca is the name of one of Martha's French bulldogs :)

I need to do one more coat of paint and a wax sealer. I haven't decided if I am going to leave the drawers the original wood color or if I am going to stain them a tad bit darker... if I go darker on the drawers then I have to stain the whole inside of the desk too and I am not looking forward to the organizer inside. I kinda like the contrast of the colors.

All in all this piece has cost me around $45.00 total, including the purchase of the desk... it was in rough shape but a little TLC has made her just beautiful :)

I love the look of pewter, I don't love the cost.  So what what is a frugal girl to do?  I made my own pewter using the cheap $ store faux silver serving ware, faux silver pieces from the thrift store and flat black cheapy paint. Stay tuned for the tutorial.
You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor. Exodus 20:17

Yep, I coveted... I admit it, like a boss I coveted it. But to make it better it I went out and bought my own LOL!

This morning I became the owner of my very own "precious". I have been watching and wanting and waiting (not so patiently I admit) at the local thrift store for over 3 weeks.... waiting for the right time to pounce, and today was the day!!! I became the owner of my very own Federal style secretary desk!!!!! ...

Now just to be clear, the photo is of what my desk looked like in its hay day, she is in kinda sad shape right now but I will start work on her soon and when I am done... OH when I am done...she will be bee~U~T~full again.  :)

I got a super fantabulous deal on her... can't wait to see her all dressed in my old books, pewter dishes, feather quill pen, old drippy candle, ink well and old ledger book... you see it in your mind... beautiful huh :)
